Danse et Danse

Apart from "dance", I have no clue what the lyrics say; but favourite tune off the album!

Why are there so many articles on duck dynasty.... c'mon. Of all the celebs in Hollywood, you've got to fixate on that piece of news? Jeez. Give me some Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams news or something..

So, what would happen if you used an industrial strength trash pump for household waste? Other than it being overkill, you'd probably need to sound proof your kitchen or something. But you know it'll do a satisfactory job of grinding your smelly leftovers and chicken bones. But you know, using an industrial strength product for actual industrial applications might be a better idea.

Need some custom merchandise for branding? A giveaway or to sell, perhaps? Try custom shaped coins! Coins that look like coins or look like badges but are actually coins! They're like a split between collar badge and a coin. You can pictures on BOTH sides of the coin. Badges are so yesterday. Check this out. You can have epoxy surfaced coins, or just plain brass, nickel, copper, silver or gold coins. Similar to lapel pins but you get both sides. Visit http://www.coinsforanything.com/ for more.

It's been raining every day for the last few weeks. We're almost a month into our yearly monsoon season. I cannot remember a day where it didn't rain. While that means it's been a very wet November month, it's also been pretty cool. Which reminds me about insulation. Life in uni was terrible during winter. There was a draft that came in from under my door which made it so cold at night. The insulation in the room was crap too. I used to have to sleep in 4 layers for warmth. But that didn't help my extremities. I used to put stuff in front of the draft to somehow... slow it down. I don't think it worked. But seriously, edge seals would've been nice to have. I tell ya, these rubber edge seals are perfect to keep your room cool or to keep the heat in. I could've stayed warm all through winter if I had these babies.

You know, I've noticed that a lot of things are going the "modular build" route. There are modular homes, modular origami art, and now modular ski and snowboard storage racks. They're pretty great too since they help streamline the manufacturing process and for the end users, they afford you with scalability capabilities. Especially in cities and suburbs where people have just too many things in their house.

Pizza Hut's having a Groupon sale for 3 regular 9"s at RM37. Not too long ago, it was RM35. Probably Pizza Hut trying to increase profit margins from this sale with the costs of having a middle man and all. In other news, I have now a brand spanking new PC that I feel I'm not utilising to its potential. Maybe when there's a crack copy of GTA :D

Running out of gift ideas for all the mandatory gift occasions? Well, one of the more novel gift items I came across today is the burlap gift bag. Perfect for all sorts of occasions and great for everyone, not just your hippy friends! The website favours using the bag to hold fragrant coffee beans and use them as a gift. You can also put other natural items like flowers, seeds, potpourri to give it a real country, rustic feel. You can gift it to your city dwelling friends because it brings them back to nature. So, really... a gift that's perfect for everyone.

I don't know why but machinery fascinates me. While it doesn't make me want to become a full fledged engineer, I do enjoy doing the occasional reading and seeing pictures. From the randomest things like gooseneck dump trailers to tower cranes to juicers. I should probably look into building stuff at home like a quasi neither here nor there mechanical engineer.

When I was younger, I'd always wanted to wear a cross because I gravitated towards Christianity and really like how the design was so simple. Now, I wear a three-cross locket. I don't think this design has a religious context to it but it definitely has people asking me about my religion. It looks so tasteful that it matches everything and looks so pretty. It's not gold but has a gold tint to it. If you think that one should proudly display their religion and the symbolic it has to them, find your gold cross here. They also look good on dainty women.

Recently, I've been feeling pensive. Lots of death around. Both siblings of a friend/acquaintance; both, young. I wouldn't say we're close but the fact that I have siblings myself really struck me how I might be in the same situation. Also, it showed me how life is so fleeting. I was at first really interest in an all expense paid trip to Antarctica but eventually the fire died down because I started procrastinating due to the fact that I had to submit a photo of myself.. and if selected, had to shoot a video and beg for votes on facebook which I hate. Due to my realisation that I want to live a fulfilling life before I die, I decided to just jump both feet in. I forgot about the video for one night and focused on just submitting my entry first. I might not even have been selected so whatever. 11 November, I'll learn if I have to make that dreaded video.

This new fall show I've been watching, The Blacklist, isn't bad. It's got great mystery, a charming lead and good progression towards the reveal. The only thing I can't stand is the wig worn by the lady cop. The wig itself is okay... but it looks like a wig. Some wigs are so good you don't even notice them. Saw some raquel welch wigs and they look pretty decent. Not sure how they'll fare but the pictures show what it's capable of. All I want is to not be distracted by the wig. I think that's the true test.

Back when I was a kid, Mum used to work 2 jobs. I didn't actually realize that until much later. At one point, she was doing direct sales for fashion jewelry. In hindsight, it was a good thing it was direct sales and not wholesale fashion jewelry and its variation. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to see her at all. This business allowed her to drop by my school every now and then because my friends' mums were her clients. I actually liked seeing my mum at school.

I've been wondering lately, whether it's possible to love someone but not have the same "amount" of trust you once had for them. The conclusion I've come to is that, at least for me, they are mutually exclusive but it doesn't act like a switch where you can turn it on or off. It's like a dimmer; it fades away. Eventually, the relationship either becomes a business relationship, friendship or acquaintanceship if the two individuals are still together.

I was recently involved in the maintenance and furnishing of a holiday unit in a slow-paced island town. It's a first for me. I've never got to have input on the furnishing of a blank space so this was a great experience. We wanted a minimalistic modern space but had difficulty finding modern pieces that matched our tastes. In fact, because of the majority population on the island, a lot of the furnishings were catered to their tastes which we found was quite the opposite of minimalist and modern. In fact, we were thinking of bringing in our own fixtures, furniture and other things because things there weren't of great quality and design. Check out modern lighting at lighting55.com for your own home decor needs.

Having seen how "cheap things aren't good and good things aren't cheap" for myself, I've started to turn around about spending money for things. Of course, that's not to say that all things expensive must be good. A very simple example is the public announcement system that I see small scale events use. They have this portable speaker that doesn't sound good enough to wake your granddaddy from his nap; and one or two wire(less) mics. Sometimes, unfortunately, it's the only equipment they have. But imagine spending a little bit more on these things and you've gained a peace of mind with less misinformation and more efficiency. Check out the shure dual microphone wireless system for a start.

It's 88 days and 8 hours till my favourite time of the year! ..... CHRISTMAS! Even though I don't get presents like I used to when I was a kid, nor do we get snow here (which is fine since I freeze easily), it's the people and the FOOD that I love. Besides, the decorations really work for me. But in our household, there's not a lot of decoration going on. I think I'd want to do something different this year. For a range of decorative items that's sure to put you in the mood, check out christmasplace for department 56.

The guitar I mentioned in a previous post that my brother in law just bought, it's an Ibanez semi acoustic which he got for a very sweet price. This helps with Christmas shopping this year. Perhaps an affordable Lehle Effects Pedals at musician's friend. Or a hardcase guitar bag. Or an amp. Or a synthesizer kind of thing that lets you record tracks and loop them over and over again. Those sound pretty fun.

Ahbabovic’s long and colourful history in Malaysia BY SHAUN HO NEWSDESK@THESTAR.COM.MY

PETALING JAYA: Bosnian national Ervin Ahbabovic appears to have had his 15 minutes of fame on a number of occasions since 2006. He has been in the limelight for the wrong reasons, going by past news reports. One of the earlier reports was about his then wife, who complained to the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department that he held her and their two children against their will in Bosnia for two months.

His story lasted 2 days and has now been pushed out of the limelight by REAL NEWS. Hallelujah.

The "B-I-L" (Brother in law) got a new guitar yesterday and with it, the tiniest capo I have ever seen. It looks about the size of a G7th Capo Company capo with a screw knob. It was cute and subtle. Speaking of tiny, there's the classic intellitouch tuner at m123 that's going for just under $30. I've been tuning my guitar by ear and sometimes I wonder how accurate the sound is. Maybe if I'd stop being so cheap and fork out $30, I'll be able to stop wondering.

Online business in Malaysia is booming. More and more youngsters are selling apparel, electronics and more on the web. Not only does this help spur the economy, it's a new market for the post office and national couriers and additional client pool for packaging suppliers. If you're selling products, you're going to need packaging for shipping. If you sold a toy, you're going to have to mail it to the recipient. This in turn plays its part to help people keep their jobs.

Running a small, medium or large enterprise and facing employee attendance issues -- employees coming in late, fraudulent attendance punching? Well, there just may be something for you. Introducing, the fingerprint time clock; no more punching in for buddies and more efficient attendance reports for Human Resources. With a device like this, attendance can be well documented and the data used for disputes, payroll and reports. No more manual reconciliation of punch cards!

It's always so refreshing to meet someone who's direct and doesn't zig zag in their interactions, who's empathetic and inclusive when socialising in a group. I met such a person yesterday and I've never met anyone like that before. When you have someone like that around you, I think you can be genuine in your interactions and that makes you a better person.

I've been to a few trade shows before and have even seen some interesting marketing / trade show display items but it's the first time I've come across tradeshow printed table throws. Who'd've thought?! Sure, no one would be able to see what it says if someone was sitting down at your table but it really comes in handy if there's no one. That's it's point. Besides, here, not many exhibitors use this trick so you'll stand out while it's still a fresh idea. And it doesn't cost you much.

Haze: PM declares emergency status in Muar and Ledang (Updated)
G. Palanivel.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has agreed to declare emergency status on Sunday in Muar and Ledang with immediate effect after the API readings reached more than 750, said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.

As of 7.00am Sunday, the air pollutant index (API) in Muar has spiked to 746, which is more than twice the standard hazardous levels according to the Department of Environment website.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported two cities in Malacca also were in hazardous API territory as at 7am Sunday namely Bandaraya Melaka and Bukit Rambai with readings of 357 and 334 respectively.

Palanivel said the highest API ever recorded in Malaysia was in Sarawak in 1997 with a reading of 860.

He also said that the National Security Council (NSC) would issue instructions for residents to stay indoors and direct schools in several states to remain closed.

"NSC should look at cloud seeding operations immediately," he said. - Bernama

My future hubster (hubby+chubster?) does not like containers and other items to be put on the kitchen counter; like your staple coffee, tea, bread, cereal. It's a little silly considering we usually put the frequently used items within reach but that's okay because I too would like a clutter free kitchen counter. Plus, this means we're less likely to keep crap. But that doesn't mean with less stuff, we don't need a comprehensive kitchen cabinet organizer. It's precisely because we don't want to keep so many things out in the open that we need great and affordable kitchen cabinet organizers. And it's not too early to do my homework because I'm seeing some great prices out there for just the things I need in my awesome kitchen!

You're in a factory and you see compliance signs like "Safety first", "wear your safety glasses", etc. all over the place but don't think twice about them. Did you know that compliance signs projects are worth millions (if the client's a major player in the industry)? Just think, all you have to do is design safety signs, which let's be honest, can be recycled from previous jobs, and supply them to the client. Then bam, profit. But of course, you'd have to read their safety manual or something like that then figure out what signs they need (if I understand this correctly). With experience, you can just breeze through the manual and have signs ready in a jiffy. Cha-ching.

Now, anybody who's using a PC will ultimately find that their PC no longer operates at the blinding speed they were once accustomed to. Unless, you routinely maintain your PC. Some ways of keeping your PC faster even at the ripe old age of 2 years include defragging (but the OS nowadays are smarter than the days of the XP so you don't have to do it often), keeping your HDD at only 75% capacity, regular disk cleanups, keep your desktop free of unnecessary icons and programs, don't install so many things, etc. Now, there are too many things to keep track for newbies right? I mean, not everyone's gung-ho about giving their computers a good check up. They just want to get in, do their stuff and get out. For this, you can check out http://www.iolo.com for a myriad of products that will do this for you without the complications. I just went shopping for office apparel today and I found a gem! Well, the boyfriend did. It's a turn towards a more feminine style for the office and more trendy too. My problem is that my entire office wardrobe is the really simple type and non-dressy. This new outfit is so I would only be able to wear it once a week which totally kills the change I'm trying to do. So I'm thinking, get a few more outfits that are of the same standard then debut it altogether rather than wearing one fancy set and the rest of the days I'm wearing 4 year old clothing.

Here's a short lesson on screw types. Not the one night only edition. If you're into home tinkering, you may have come across a screw with an odd shaped head. Chances are it has a hexagonal hole that can only be opened with an allen key. These "unusual" socket head cap screws are meant for the most demanding mechanical applications and temperatures. They also work well when you have limited space for assembly or disassembly because allen keys are smaller than traditional screw drivers or wrenches.

I was thinking of a trip to Toronto some time in the near future. But, because it's half a world away, it's going to cost quite a fair bit. Now, the cheapest time to travel there is during Winter. Hotels and airfare will be cheap and those cost a pretty penny. However, since it's so cold, we're going to have to fork out a chunk on winter clothing. And since we're there, we may as well get one or two sets of Ski Clothing cause dude, I want to snowboard. If not standing, I'll be riding the snowboard down slope.

We were looking at a mattress factory outlet looking at beds the other day. First, we saw some fancy queen sized beds that were quite outrageous, and in my opinion, would never fit into the regular middle class families' homes. They seemed more suited for well paid yuppies living in condos. But then, just as we were about to leave, the salesmen showed us this bed cum storage unit since we were wondering what to do with all our stuff under the bed. This bed used a hydraulic power unit to lift the massive mattress on top of it. A petite woman could do it. Besides, when it opened, it had that cool hydraulic sound. Totally impressed.

Popular amongst collectors, one ounce US silver coins have a legal tender value of one US dollar. So when you buy these coins, you're not throwing money away for an inanimate display item, it is an investment! Of course it's subject to commodity prices at the time but commodity is one of the more stable investments out there and is bound to increase in the future as rare earth mineral supplies start to dwindle.

I was just thinking about how I will decorate my own home and one thing that I'd like is a water feature somewhere in the property. A yard is a must have so an outdoor fountain wouldn't be too bad of an idea. Plus, the house will have hard wood floors on the inside so a wall fountain would be a great addition. It creates comfort, makes the room feel homier and keeps your house cool. Get your water features here.

Julia Stone - Winter on the Weekend. He's a dog But he's dressed up like a sheep Got bones all through the backyard But he likes to drink tea We play scrabble on the weekend And he talks about the weather most of the time I thought my sacred body with him It would be fine And I walked into the doorway He slid across the room My heart, it started racing I just didn't know what to do And he laid me on the floor And my screams they go unheard The lady living next door Well, she's 6 feet under the dirt Daddy, why don't you protect me? Someone's gonna hurt me, there's nothing I can do Daddy, why don't you protect me? Someone's gonna hurt me, there's nothing I can do He's a dog But he's dressed up like a sheep He's got bones all through the backyard But he likes to fool me And I travel through the doorway I thought I'd be fine But it's not the way it's gonna go This time Daddy, why don't you protect me? Someone's gonna hurt me, there's nothing I can do Daddy, why don't you protect me? Somebody is going to hurt me, there's nothing I can do And all this time I needed you And all this time I wanted you You can't hear me now, can't hear me now Like you do Daddy, why don't you protect me? Someone's gonna hurt me, there's nothing I can do Daddy, why don't you protect me? Somebody is going to hurt me, there's nothing I, I can do

Regular Jane and Joes like you and I usually pay attention to the security of our identity to a certain level but we're not that vigilant. Not good enough considering bad people can easily get their hands on scanners that can collect information from your IDs. You do know you have RFID chips in your IDs right? Your IDs, passports, employee cards... That's why it's so important to keep up with times and get rfid protection. These are usually cases which block the signal from being picked up. It sounds simple and probably doesn't seem worth it with the price you have to fork out now but just you wait till it really happens. The convenience is well worth it.

My mum has been cutting up her fingers in the kitchen lately and it pains me to know that I can't do much but to tell her to be more careful. But having visited www.martorusa.com, I think we may be able to apply the logic to kitchen knives. There will be challenges like how we hold cutters and kitchen knives; how we hold the thing we're cutting up as well. But that's why there are R&D teams and why you pay a boat load of money for things.

Rehab Stigma

Posted by the Writer

You know, I think the social stigma of going to rehab isn't so bad any more. Yes, it's still a tad embarrassing especially to admit that you have a problem and you can't solve it on your own but nowadays, people see it as a really brave thing to do; to admit that you need help and to have the desire to be better and check yourself in to, say, Malibu Horizon inpatient drug rehab. Or nay-sayers may see it as people going soft and the zero-beating lifestyle people are advocating for is one of the causes of people with drug problems :D

Loving these words....

I, I want to wish you well
I didn't watch you go
Cause I suppose I don't know how
I, I will remember you
Not the way you left but how you lived
And what you knew

I, I want to feel your hands
I want to feel your fire burning
Right from where I stand

I'll find my way
Cause you showed me how

I, I want toknow it's you
When I hear your voice inside my head
Inside my room
I, want to touch the sky
I want to see the stars twinkle
Like they were your eyes

I'll find my way
You showed me
I'll find my way
Cause you showed me how

I, I want to smell your scent
I want to breathe the air I did before
Before you left

I, I want to wish you well
The only reason my heart beats
Is cause you showed it how

I'll find my way
You show me
I'll find my way
You show me
I'll find my way
Cause you showed me how
You show me how
You showed me how

Love Hate Caffeine

I did not have my coffee yesterday morning. I was miserable. I had my coffee later that day. I became irritable. What the hell.

Who was Jalapeno?

Posted by the Writer

A Jalapeno was riding is Jalapeno-bike in the desert, admiring the cacti and sand all around. In the distance, he see's a silhouette. It was a Scorpion. The Scorpion hailed him down and asked, "Can I hitch a ride to town"? Jalapeno saw his disheveled shell and sand covered err... legs. Jalapeno then said, "Sure, for 5 mexican silvers, you can". The Scorpion hesitated then agreed. He got on Jalapeno's bike and they rode off. Before they reached town, the Scorpion whipped out his stinger and gave Jalapeno a big poke. The bike crashed and burned but not before Scorpion jumped off. As the bike explodes in the horizon, Scorpion gets picked up by a tinted black 4 wheel and speeds off.

humidor

Want to keep your cigars fresh? Get a humidor and the accompanying humidor accessories. At it's core, it is a cigar box with a humidifier (your humidor accessory) but it keeps your cigars humidified at a cool 70% so you can keep them as fresh as when you first got them. (I may be a big generous with my description but you get the point).

swim all the time

Posted by the Writer

All through Fall you were itching to get in the pool but it was too cold. Now all through Winter, you couldn't get into the pool. It being frozen and all. Now Spring is coming and you can finally get in there again. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to swim most days of the year? All you need is a pool heat pump. When the water is warm, swarm the pool. Bad pun, bad pun.

BP monitors

Posted by the Writer

What the heck is a digital sphygmomanometer? Some googling later, oh, it's a blood pressure monitor. I have one at home too. But we just call it a BP monitor. They're pretty great tools though when you have geriatrics in the house. But obviously they can't tell you what specifically is wrong with them since they only help you to rule out that it isn't something to do with their blood pressure. My grandmother was hypoglycemic once and she kept complaining of dizziness. When we checked her BP, it was normal. So we knew it wasn't low blood pressure. Which meant we had to move on to the next possibility. Anyway, we brought her to the hospital and it was sorted out.

the beginning of the supply chain

Posted by the Writer

Having worked in a corporate, regular office job, type of environment, where you deal with design houses, I find that it can get pretty boring. Unlike the 4 months I worked at an events company where you deal directly with the supplier or manufacturer, that felt more satisfying because of the connections you make with the people who create stuff. Like wholesale catalog printing or keychain manufacturers. You get to see more of the world of business. Plus, you get better prices.

crowd control tools

Opening a night club? Organising an event an expecting a queue? Doing anything with large crowds? Well, crowd control stanchions are your friend. You've got retractable ones and even classic and majestic looking ones for hotels and other places. Nowadays they even have designer ones like black and yellow tape designs. Usually they're not meant to be easily movable so you have metal ones but being a price savvy society, manufacturers have now created metal plated plastic stanchions to save you money. You know, I used to use this when I was playing The Sims.

self defense

Posted by the Writer

With the number of snatch thefts rising, women now have to play a proactive role in protecting themselves. They can take up self defense classes, equip defense spray or other small weapons, have a male accompany them to their cars or just be aware of their surroundings by not texting or talking on the phone. Every little bit helps. Just three days ago, two girls in my old neighbourhood were snatched and one of them sustained injuries. It's a bad neighbourhood but sometimes you wonder if they could've done something to deter the thieves and make themselves a less attractive target.

outsourcing jobs

Have a project that requires burning cd after cd but don't have the right equipment to do so? If you intended to do this on your own, you should really consider outsourcing. It's cd replication made easy with short lead time and at affordable prices. Who wouldn't want to free up their time to do other money making activities if they can afford it right?

tv in my room?

Posted by the Writer

I'm repainting my room this weekend and I'm wondering if it will be a good idea to install a tv in the room. Since there isn't much space in my room anyway, I will need to spend on tv brackets, apart from the tv. I'm sure there are cheap but sturdy ones I can find online and I'll do the mounting myself. And voila, a tv in my room! But it isn't going to be easy when you share a room with your sibling and your mother disallows it.

dance recitals

Posted by the Writer

Nothing like celebrating.. and motivating... your kid for their first public display of skills -- their dance recital. Believe it or not, consumers and retailers now buy/sell gifts for dance recitals. Who'da thunk that it'd be a win win for all. The buyer, usually the parents, would've provided sufficient motivation and all around goodness to the performers, their kids, who would in turn probably dance better. Retailers would've profited from their happiness. so everyone's happy.
