I used to be one of them... those who think they'd look better without eyeglasses because it doesn't allow me to do sports and the heavy lenses were causing nose pad impressions on my face which I didn't like when I looked into the mirror everyday. In my teens, I wanted lasik. But being the procrastinator and cheapskate that I am, I didn't do it. Now that I'm older, I've come to realise that all the issues I mentioned was not because of the glasses, it was my self esteem. Now that I'm more confident, my glasses don't bother me. Heavy lenses? No problem. I just go some really light weight frames and high index lenses. Can't do sports? No problem. At my age, I don't need to be jumping around and all that; I've been trail walking. Being confident makes all the difference in the world and I think I look awesome with eyeglasses.

I just returned from a conference two days ago. It was a company event organised by my colleagues on the same floor. As guests, we got merchandise for the event. It was a tumbler with a logo placement which was picked out by the people on our floor in a poll. They do that sometimes when they can't be sure which design or placement would be the most preferred. I'm hoping one day they'd do mugs. Gigantic mugs that double as a bowl. Then they'd have space to print tons of stuff on it. Speaking of which, mugs with logos can be found here. If you catch my drift.

First thought that came to mind when I saw the unbelievable prices of drugs on the canadian drugstore was, "how is medication in Canada so much cheaper"? I thought it might've had something to do with universal healthcase but nope. I did some digging and found that Canada has put a cap on drug prices. That means pharmaceutic giants can't charge a bomb for medication. Plus, there's this thing about getting on the formulary so your drugs can be sold to seniors, the population who needs them the most.

Your guitar; trumpet; or drum set is your baby. If you're a performer, you'd have to be able to carry it around from bar to bar, yes? Rather than a simple protective case, how about travelling in style at the same time? Think: black leather. High density foam. Accessory pockets. Soft, tarnish resistant interior lining. Kangkung-gate

The Prime Minister's sudden and unexpected announcement regarding the value of kangkung has caused all kinds of chaos across the country. Panic selling has resulted in plummeting prices and soaring tempers. With extremist factions now hogging the limelight, with reason and rationality falling by the wayside, the good lads at That Effing Show are left wondering what this all means with regards to the economy, and education, and the battle against corruption, and all of those very real issues that ail us all.

The quirky, occasionally entertaining but long product copy that they write on Groupon used to be something I'd read but now it's just... tiresome. Sometimes I run into a gem but other than that, I go straight to the point. Which got me thinking.... how do you write short copy for products like dog bark collars, so potential customers will click to find out more about the product? First, I know first-hand how it can be difficult to write one day in and out. Second, with the product sold at pet accessory merchants where the clientele, we can presume, tend to be pet lovers, how do you write something that doesn't scare them into thinking that this is a torture device? Sure, you can use words like "stimulation", "correction", "persuasive".. but it still sounds evil. I reckon some photos of dogs being incredibly comfortable with their "people" nearby. That should out a damper to those guilty feelings dog owners may have about "stimulating" their pups.

I didn't realise foreigners were employed at fast food joints.... I suddenly feel quite ignorant. Of course, they're employed there!

PUTRAJAYA: Foreign workers already employed at fast-food outlets may continue in their jobs until the expiry of their work permit, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The ministry however, will not renew those permits or issue new ones for foreigners wanting to work at these restaurants.
Dr Ahmad Zahid said the work permits have a maximum validity period of three years.
“They can still continue to work (at fast-food outlets) until their permit expires,” Dr Ahmad Zahid said in a press conference after receiving Uganda Internal Affairs Minister General Aronda Nyakairima at his office here yesterday.
He was commenting on an announcement last week that fast-food restaurants will no longer be allowed to hire foreign workers.
The decision was made by the Cabinet Committee on Foreign Workers and Illegal Immigrants to give priority to Malaysians to take up jobs at fast-food outlets.
On the I-Kad for foreigners, Dr Ahmad Zahid clarified that the cost for applying for the card has been covered under the existing cost for renewing temporary work passes.
It was previously reported that employers or foreign workers will need to pay RM110 for the I-Kad, which bears security features such as biometric fingerprints.
“Employers need not worry about any costs for the I-Kad as mentioned previously, seeing that it has been included in existing charges and payments collected by the Government during the renewal of the temporary working pass for every foreign worker,” Dr Ahmad Zahid said.
Dr Ahmad Zahid added that the ministry had gazetted several locations to hold illegal foreign workers in anticipation of those who may be deported under a nationwide operation to flush out illegal immigrants starting Jan 21.
